Asthma Tips

Asthma Prevention Tips

Asthma Information
Asthma is characterized by coughing, chest tightness, shortness of breath and wheezing. Asthma symptoms can be triggered by several factors, including: allergens or irritants; viral or sinus infections; exercise; reflux disease (stomach acid flowing back up the esophagus); medications or foods; and emotional anxiety.

Caffeine and Asthma
If you feel an asthma attack coming on and don't have your inhaler handy, try a couple cups of coffee, tea, hot chocolate, or chocolate bars. The caffeine will help open your airways.

Controlling Your Asthma
If you find yourself using your quick-relief inhaler to stop an asthma attack more than twice a week, it may be time for a different medication. In fact, if you have to refill your inhaler more than two times a year or are awakened by asthma symptoms two nights or more per week, you also probably need a change.

Correct Inhaler Use
If you use an inhaler to treat your asthma, remember that it's not a breath freshener. You must deeply inhale the medication into your lungs and hold it for three to five seconds before exhaling slowly.

NSAIDs, Aspirin and Asthma
Asthma sufferers should use the non-aspirin pain reliever acetaminophen (Tylenol) because the use of aspirin and NSAIDs (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs), such as Advil/Motrin (ibuprofen) and Aleve (naproxen sodium), have the tendency to worsen asthma.

Arthritis Tips

Arthritis Info

Arthritis ('arth' meaning joint, 'itis' meaning inflammation) isn't a one-note story or even a few variations on a single theme; it actually consists of more than 100 different conditions

These can be anything from relatively mild forms of tendinitis (as in 'tennis elbow') and bursitis to crippling systemic forms, such as rheumatoid arthritis. There are pain syndromes like fibromyalgia and arthritis-related disorders, such as systemic lupus erythematosus, that involve every part of the body. There are forms of the disease, such as gout that almost nobody connects with arthritis and there are other conditions - like osteoarthritis, the misnamed 'wear and tear' arthritis - that a good many people think is the only form of the disease.

True, many older people do have arthritis, but it's not just a disease of the old. Some forms of arthritis affect children still in diapers, while thousands of people are stricken in the prime of their lives. The common denominator for all these conditions is joint and musculoskeletal pain, which is why they are grouped together as 'arthritis.' Often that pain is a result of inflammation of the joint lining.

Inflammation is involved in many forms of arthritis. It is the body's natural response to injury. The warning signs that inflammation presents are redness, swelling, heat and pain. These are the same kinds of reaction the body has to a sliver in the hand, for example. When a joint becomes inflamed, it may get any or all of these symptoms. This can prevent the normal use of the joint and therefore it can cause the loss of function of that joint.

Anatomy of a Joint

There are more than 100 joints connecting the body's 206 bones. Most of the major bone connections in the body are joints designed to allow a broad range of motion. There are different kinds for different functions: ball-and-socket (hips and shoulders), saddle joints (which connect thumb to hand), hinge joints (fingers and knees) or pivot joints (wrists).

Tied together by ligaments, the bones of joints are capped with a smooth substance called cartilage. This tough elastic material acts as a shock absorber and allows the bone ends to glide smoothly across each other. If the cartilage is destroyed (as in osteoarthritis), the bones of a joint can grind against each other causing pain, loss of mobility, deformity and dysfunction.

Between the bones is a joint cavity, which gives the bones room to move. The joint space between two bones is enclosed by a capsule that's flexible, yet strong enough to protect the joint against dislocation. The inner lining of this capsule, the synovium, produces a thick fluid that lubricates and nourishes the joint. In many forms of arthritis, the synovium becomes inflamed and thickened, producing extra fluid which contains inflammatory cells. The inflamed synovium and fluid can damage the cartilage and underlying bone.

No one knows what causes arthritis, though scientists have uncovered a host of clues. Something can be done to manage most forms of arthritis, but it's very important that a correct diagnosis is established early. Most therapies work best when started early in the disease process. You can read more specific information under Types of Arthritis.

Anxiety Prevention Tips

Anxiety Info

Everybody knows what it's like to feel anxious “ the butterflies in your stomach before a first date, the tension you feel when your boss is angry, the way your heart pounds if you're in danger. Anxiety rouses you to action. It gears you up to face a threatening situation. It makes you study harder for that exam, and keeps you on your toes when you're making a speech. In general, it helps you cope.

But if you have an anxiety disorder, this normally helpful emotion can do just the opposite it can keep you from coping and can disrupt your daily life. Anxiety disorders aren't just a case of "nerves." They are illnesses, often related to the biological makeup and life experiences of the individual, and they frequently run in families. There are several types of anxiety disorders, each with its own distinct features.

An anxiety disorder may make you feel anxious most of the time, without any apparent reason. Or the anxious feelings may be so uncomfortable that to avoid them you may stop some everyday activities. Or you may have occasional bouts of anxiety so intense they terrify and immobilize you.

Anxiety disorders are the most common of all the mental disorders. At the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), the Federal agency that conducts and supports research related to mental disorders, mental health, and the brain, scientists are learning more and more about the nature of anxiety disorders, their causes, and how to alleviate them. NIMH also conducts educational outreach activities about anxiety disorders and other mental illnesses.

Many people misunderstand these disorders and think individuals should be able to overcome the symptoms by sheer willpower. Wishing the symptoms away does not work - but there are treatments that can help. These pages are meant to help you understand these conditions, describe their treatments, and explain the role of research in conquering anxiety and other mental disorders.

Allergy Prevention Tips

Air Conditioning and Allergies
To help alleviate problems with pollen, molds and dust mites, air condition your house and car and, if possible, add an air cleaner to your central air conditioner.

Anaphylactic Shock
Anaphylactic shock, the most severe allergic reaction, is most commonly associated with bee or fire ant stings. If welts (hives) erupt following a sting, this is a warning flag to seek prompt medical attention.

Attic Fans
Don't use your attic fan during allergy season. The fan sucks pollen into the house.

Avoid Dyes
Avoid dyes, especially the ones in toilet paper. Use white to wipe.

Bedding and Dust Mites
If dust mites give you trouble, seal your mattress, box springs and pillows in allergy-resistant plastic covers available at most discount stores.

Carpeting Causes Allergy Problems
Allergy experts recommend you dump the carpeting and use throw rugs instead. Since most people enjoy a carpeted home, try the new allergy care carpet treatments now available.

Cheap Fungicide
Clean humid areas, such as the bathroom and basement, with a fungicide (mold-killer). A cheap and effective one is bleach. Use a solution of 3/4 cup bleach to one gallon of water, let stand 5 minutes and rinse.

Choose Antiperspirants Carefully
Aluminum chloride, aluminum sulfate and zirconium chlorohydrate in antiperspirants often cause dermatitis, especially after shaving. Try to choose antiperspirants that contain the anti-irritants allantoinate, zinc oxide, magnesium oxide, aluminum hydroxide, or triethanolamine.

Cold Compresses for Allergy Relief
Are your allergy eyes giving you fit? Try a cold compress for 15-20 minutes. Wet a washcloth with cold water and place over your eyes.

Common Allergens and Allergy Symptoms
A listing of common allergens: pollen, mold spores, dust mites, animal dander, feathers, foods, medications, and insect stings. Common allergy symptoms: watery, itchy eyes, sneezing, and a constant runny nose.

Common Pollens
The most common pollens causing allergies include: tree pollens (April - May), grasses (June - July) and ragweed (August - October).

Dandruff and Shampoo Dyes
Dandruff sufferers may be allergic to the dyes in the shampoo they use. Even dandruff remedy shampoos often contain dyes.

Decongestants and Blood Pressure
If you are hypertensive, over-the-counter decongestants are a big no-no. Decongestants raise blood pressure and can lead to heart attack or stroke.

Dehumidifier and Allergies
Keep the humidity in your home below 45%. To measure the humidity level, buy an inexpensive hygrometer available at many discount stores.

Driving and Antihistamines
Antihistamines often cause drowsiness and should not be taken if driving or operating machinery.

Drug Treatment for Allergies
The over-the-counter antihistamine diphenhydramine (Benadryl) works well for allergy treatment and has few drug interactions. Be sure to read the label for proper dosage, side effects, etc. and check with your doctor if you have any questions.

Face Masks
Wear a face mask when doing chores that are most likely to expose you to allergens like vacuuming and gardening. You can buy face masks at a hardware store.

Fall Allergies
Even though fall temperatures are mild, keep windows closed and use air conditioning to reduce allergy problems. Air conditioning filters out pollen and keeps humidity low, which keeps indoor mold down.

Hay Fever vs. Sinusitis
Allergic rhinitis (hay fever) is caused by allergies and is often characterized by a runny nose, sneezing and congestion, and itchy eyes, nose, throat and inner ears. Non-allergic rhinitis (sinusitis) is characterized by a swollen, inflamed nasal lining and a stuffy nose. It may be triggered by irritants such as smoke, changes in barometric pressure or temperature, or overuse of over-the-counter decongestant nasal sprays.

Hidden Sources of Peanuts
Hidden peanut sources may include:

Artificial nuts can be peanuts that have been deflavored and reflavored with a nut, such as pecan or walnut. Mandelonas are peanuts soaked in almond flavoring.

Arachis oil is peanut oil.

It is advised that peanut-allergic patients avoid chocolate candies unless they are absolutely certain there is no risk of cross-contact during manufacturing procedures.

African, Chinese, Indonesian, Mexican, Thai, and Vietnamese dishes often contain peanuts, or are contaminated with peanuts during preparation of these types of meals. Additionally, foods sold in bakeries and ice cream shops are often in contact with peanuts. It is recommended that peanut-allergic individuals avoid these types of foods and restaurants.

Many brands of sunflower seeds are produced on equipment shared with peanuts.

Laundry Allergies
If you have severe allergies to laundry products, try using baking soda to wash your clothing and linens.

Mites and Mattress Pads
Wash your mattress pads weekly in hot water to kill dust mites.

Nasal Sprays
Don't be tempted to treat an allergy with an over-the-counter decongestant nasal spray for more than three days. After a few days of use you may get a "rebound" effect, and your nose may become even more congested than before. These drugs are more useful for short-term use to relieve nasal congestion associated with a cold.

No Open Windows
If you're an allergy sufferer do not ride in a vehicle with the windows down or vents wide open. It will worsen your allergies 200 percent. The same goes for your home. Invest in an air conditioner.

One Room Sanctuary
If central air conditioning isn't an option for you, make your bedroom your sanctuary. Install a window air conditioner, properly care for your bedding and keep the door closed at all times.

Pets, Bedrooms and Allergies
Pet dander is a common allergen, especially cat dander. To ease the suffering that Fido or Fluffy may cause you, ban them from your bedroom at all times.

Preventing a More Severe Peanut Allergy Reaction
In one of seven studies published in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, researchers say liquid charcoal, which is often used when people ingest poison to block absorption, can also absorb peanuts.

"After you've eaten the peanut and you have an allergic reaction, you still have peanut in your stomach," explained Dr. Donald Leung, editor of the journal. "And so rather than allow further peanut to be absorbed and have an even more severe reaction ... drinking the charcoal will prevent the further triggering of increased symptoms."

Leung advised that parents of young children with the allergy keep liquid charcoal -- available in pharmacies -- in the home, in case of accidental ingestion.

Ragweed
Problems with ragweed, the most common weed pollen, usually start in the middle of August and continue until the frost begins. Interestingly, some regions are less affected than others: The West coast does not have any ragweed.

Synthetic Pillows
Dust mites like synthetic pillows as much as down or foam ones, but synthetic pillows have the major advantage of being washable in hot water which kills the mites.

Tree Allergies
Trees that can cause seasonal allergy symptoms include: maple, ash, oak, elm, birch and cedar. When they pollinate depends on the area in which you live.

Addiction Info

Definition

Addiction is a dependence on a behavior or substance that a person is powerless to stop.

The term has been partially replaced by the word dependence for substance abuse. Addiction has been extended, however, to include mood-altering behaviors or activities. Some researchers speak of two types of addictions: substance addictions (for example, alcoholism, drug abuse, and smoking); and process addictions (for example, gambling, spending, shopping, eating, and sexual activity). There is a growing recognition that many addicts, such as polydrug abusers, are addicted to more than one substance or process.

Save Your Life And Money From Heart Disease

Even though the death rate is reducing day by day, but the heart disease is still the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States. But thanks to the hospitals and several nonprofit health organizations for their hard work, as more Americans now understands the necessity to lower their risk of increasing heart disease and suffering from heart attacks. Even though you already have heart disease, you can still decrease your likelihood of suffering from a heart attack in the future by making vital lifestyle changes. To a greater extent Americans are taking steps to perk up their heart health by following a healthy diet plan, work out and exercise on regular basis and giving up smoking and drinking.

Our country has improved much in survival rate of heart disease that can also be attributed to the availability of advanced and modern medical care. But this medical treatment can be very costly. In 2007, the direct and indirect costs of coronary heart disease treatments reached $151.6 billion in the United States.

Several people have major medical insurance to bear for these expenses, but heart disease patients usually faces large amount from there pocket. These can include co-payments or deductibles, living expenses and loss of income, and it finally costs several thousand dollars per patient.

“The Americans should come forward and save themselves from the physical threat of heart disease, it’s also essential to consider the financial risk’s as well,” said, the president of Conseco Health Insurance Company. “Unexpected expenses associated to heart disease can be shocking to the individuals and families who are not financially sound and unable to pay.”

Americans can set up for these surprising costs by purchasing supplemental health insurance for heart disease and heart attacks. Supplemental health insurance pays advantage to the policy holder independently for medical coverage. Benefits from supplemental health insurance can be used to pay for any of the
out of pocket expenses that heart disease patients suffers.

Some companies are specialized in providing supplemental health products to working Americans and seniors. Those Health Insurance Companies encourages Americans to plan for a healthy and bright future; both financially and physically.

Curing And Avoiding Heart Problems

The research on , “Dropping the Human Impact of High Blood Pressure,” looked at the number of strokes, heart attacks, deaths that could be avoided every year if all authority were actively treated their high blood pressure. As it was discovered that proper treatment of high blood pressure can prevent up to 6,000 deaths in Los Angeles alone.
“Presently, two-thirds of Medicare beneficiaries have hypertension, which puts millions of seniors at risk annually,” according to Dr. Paul Anthony, chief medical officer for Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America. “Yet, for most people, high blood pressure can be controlled.”

High blood pressure has got no symptoms. If you are at risk, you should be examined regularly by your medical doctor. Self-tests at pharmacy and convenient stores are useful, but may not be totally consistent. Get tested if you are above 60, if you smoke, if you intake lot of salt, if you live a high-stress lifestyle or if you pursue from diabetes.

Nationwide, the study found that about a quarter of senior citizens with hypertension can easily manage their condition with proper treatment. Active treatment includes proper diet, exercise, lifestyle changes and taking prescription medications in consultation with a doctor.

The study shows that diseases often associated with age are not simply inevitable consequences of getting older. With the help of a doctor, these diseases can actually be sometimes cured, controlled and prevented.

One benefactor of the study was the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PRMA), an association representing the country’s foremost pharmaceutical research and biotechnology companies. Members are dedicated to inventing medicines that allow patients to live longer, healthier and more productive lives and are leading the way in the search for new treatment

Better Diagnosis Of Heart Disease Due To New Technology

Today, new medical imaging technology has widely improved the area of computed tomography i.e. CT scan, which gives 3-D images of internal organs of the body, including the brain, heart and other organs, to perform diagnoses of heart disease and even stroke quicker and more accurate without making any a cut.

As seen in most of the medical imaging procedures, image quality is key factor. If the scanned image does not clearly displays all the minute details, the diagnosis may not be as exact. And now day’s latest CT technology permits the doctors to not only observe things they have never seen before, it means that patients are getting the most accurate and perfect diagnosis possibly, but it also performs faster exams on severely ill patients who might find it difficult to remain alive for quite long time.

For instance, United States is used the finest and fully automatic CT system which is currently the best industry’s resolution scanner available for cardiovascular imaging. It produces 32 slices of specified images as thin as 5 millimeters.

By using this new modern machine, a specified 3-D image is produced in order to allow doctors to observe the heart from virtually any angle, which results in immense confidence in diagnosing heart diseases and disorders.

Ineluctably, better diagnosis leads to better treatment and cure. As we gain better awareness of the dangers of heart disease, simultaneously we should also be aware of the medical technology available to our doctors. It is obvious that on one hand you have the option of a doctor who diagnose with the latest medical imaging technology and on another hand the doctor diagnose with out-dated technology. The options are in your hand which one will you choose?

Information For Reducing Your Risk

Nearly every American is unaware that taking precautionary measures such as consuming a healthy balanced diet, maintaining stress levels and getting adequate physical activity can lead in reducing the risks of heart associated diseases.

Here are five easy steps to maintain a healthy heart:

• Eat rich diet fruits and vegetables: The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has new Dietary Guidelines say adults should consume the recommended amounts of fruits and vegetables each day to lower their risk of heart disease.

• Exercise: Physical movement helps to improve heart function, lowers the blood pressure and cholesterol, and enhances energy. The American Heart Association reports that 37.6 percent of United States adults say they do not engage in free time physical activity. Adults should have at least 20 to 40 minutes of moderate physical activity at least for 5 days in week.

• Include fiber in your diet: Fiber provides many heart-health benefits, including lowering the risk of coronary heart disease and cholesterol. Try to get the
recommended amount of fiber in your daily diet.

• In take Omega-3s: Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids helps to a maintain a healthy cardiovascular system by maintaining cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the body. Good sources of omega-3 fatty acids are seafood, such as salmon, crab, tuna and shrimp.

• Supplement diet: A good quality supplement can function your nutritional seat belt. Health experts, including doctors, nutritionists and even the Food and Drug Association (FDA), agrees that many diets in the U S lack optimum levels of many key nutrients such as antioxidants, omega-3s and plant sterols required to maintain a healthy heart and that adding a daily multivitamin or dietary supplement can support fill the nutritional gaps.

Tests For Heart Diseases

Strokes and heart disease are two of the main under takers in United States. Heart disease is the single-leading cause of death in the United States, executing almost 500,000 Americans every year. Stroke is the third-leading cause of death. About 700,000 Americans have a stroke each year.

Recognizing the risk of patients earlier is the best way to put off a cardiovascular event. Unfortunately for many patients, however, their first signal of heart disease or stroke also may be their last. Around 50 percent of men and 64 percent of women who die suddenly of heart attacks have no previous warning signs, such as increased cholesterol. In addition, there was previously no simple blood test for stroke risk. As a result, researchers have looked for other factors that might expose the risk for future heart attack or stroke.

Precaution If Risk Occurs

The research has included Lp-PLA2 (lipoprotein-associated phospholipase (A2), an enzyme associated with the formation of plaque, or fat deposits in the artery wall. Lp-PLA2 is carried to artery walls by low-density lipoprotein, where the enzyme can start an inflammatory response, making the plaque horizontal to rupture. Scientists now know that clot formation caused by plaque rupture is the main cause of heart attack and stroke. Elevated Lp-PLA2 doubles a person’s possibility of heart attack or stroke.

The good news for doctors and patients is that a low-cost blood test now is available to measure Lp-PLA2. The PLAC test from diaDexus has been passes by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as an aid in detecting risk for heart disease, and is the first test approved by the FDA to spot out stroke risk. Once a person is identified as being at high risk, there are a number of lifestyle and therapeutic interventions a doctor can prescribe to decrease that risk.

12 Tips For Safe Online Dating

There’s a nervousness, thrill, and excitement that occurs when meeting a person for the first time face to face. Yet amongst the thrill, remember to always be on your guard when going out on a date with someone you barely know.

Here are 12 tips on dating safety to help you get started:

1. Arrange to meet him.
When meeting for the first time, never allow your date to pick you up from your home. In fact, your date shouldn't even know your home address yet!

2. Meet in public places.
For a first meeting, always meet in a public place where other people are in close proximity. You may also want to consider going out with a group of people, or a double date.

3. Go dutch by paying half of the bill.
It's always respectful for the man to offer to pay the bill. Unfortunately, some men ruin the gesture by expecting something in return. Therefore it may not be a bad idea for you to go dutch. Pay half the bill so that you won't feel under any obligation to "return" the favor.

4. Remember that alcohol affects your judgment.
The biggest threat to a person's judgment, when on a date, is alcohol. Not only does it affect your judgment, but alcohol also lessens your inhibitions. If you are drinking, keep your drink in sight at all times and don’t get so drunk that you don’t know what you are doing. Better yet, try to avoid alcohol on your first date.

5. Use your own mode of transportation.
Provide your own transportation to your public meeting place and make sure you have more than enough gas.

6. Don't assume that a man is safe.
It's important never to let your guard down when on a first date. Never assume a man is safe just because he claims to be religious or a gentleman.

7. Don’t let him know where you live.
If you want to see him again, arrange a second date and then take it from there.

8. Avoid secluded areas.
Remember - stay in a public place for your first date and avoid secluded areas such as parks.

9. Listen to your gut.
If something doesn't feel right, it probably isn't. And if you haven’t met him before, and you know at the beginning of the date that something doesn’t feel right, then leave immediately.

10. Always let someone else know where you're going. Be sure someone knows where you are going and who you'll be with. You might even consider arranging a time to call and check in. Or you could arrange to meet up with friends later that night.

11. Give him your cell phone number.
It's safer to give out a cell phone number instead of your home phone number

12. Always remain alert.
Even if you’re having a blast and the chemistry is great, it’s a good idea to remain alert the whole evening. Make sure you have a cell phone on you.

Dating safely is very important. In the initial stages of dating and online dating, you are still getting to know someone you know very little about. By creating a safe environment to know the person, you’re creating a better situation for yourself.

Romantic Dating Tips: How to be Romantic

Romance is at the heart of any dating experience. If you don't consider yourself romantic then you are wrong. I don't know of anyone on this planet who doesn't have the ability to fall in love. Therefore if you can fall in love, you can be romantic too. Romance is not in the grand gestures , it is in the small details. Women will often say that it is the small things that matter. The small gestures but it is down to both men and women to start being romantic. It is a two-way process and both parties get an immense amount of pleasure from showing they care about someone. Yes we would all love to have a romantic picnic on a deserted Caribbean beach with the person of our dreams but romance begins closer to home with tips such as these:
  • Understand what romance means and why it is important and learn what romantic aspects there are to your own character. No one has a heart made of stone, however tough their exterior.
  • Understand that romance is not the sole domain of women and that men who are romantic are far more successful when dating
  • Romance has nothing whatsoever to do with masculinity. In fact, being romantic can enhance your masculinity and reputation with girls.
  • Not all women are naturally romantic either but that doesn't have to be the case.
  • The key to being romantic is thoughtfulness. So start being a little less thoughtless and selfish.
  • Communicate with your partner on every level and anticipate their desires and needs.
  • Look at your partner when they are talking and hold their gaze
  • Learn that mood, location, situation and ambience can heighten romance with dramatic effect
  • Phone just to say hello, I love you and surprise your partner
  • Learn to say, I love you and mean it. Don't say it ever, if you don't mean it
  • Send them notes and small cards telling them you are thinking of them
  • Be spontaneous and do little deeds that show you are thinking about them
  • Start going for walks together, whatever the weather
  • Put your partner first, particularly as a surprise with a spontaneous trip away
  • Think creatively and plan a surprise weekend away
  • Buy flowers any time of the year, nice ones not just roses
  • Remember birthdays, anniversaries and landmark days such as the day you first met and plan something
  • Listen to the clues your partner gives you, such as things they like and books they read and buy little gifts
  • Keep being romantic. In a good relationship, romance never ends
  • Compromise. Putting yourself first is not romantic.
  • Write him/her a letter and let them know that you love them and you mean it. People send far few letters these days. Use good quality stationery too.
  • Watch romantic movies together and invest quality time doing the things you share and both enjoy
  • Make cards rather than buying them. It shows thought and inspiration.
  • Take your partner on a picnic to the park or beach and prepare in advance without involving them. Initiative illustrates romance nicely
  • Don't be a cold fish. Learn how to hug, cuddle and make physical contact. Touching without sex is far more romantic but don't always hug without kissing!
  • Kiss your date and learn to appreciate the finer qualities of kissing for its own sake
  • Dance together when the occasion arises and show them special attention
  • Hold hands and do anything make your partner feel close to you
  • Hold and hug your partner in bed, especially after sex
  • Talk chat and converse about anything and everything
  • Allow your partner to breathe and do separate things to heighten the sense of romance when you are together
  • If you don't cook dinner for your date, start learning my friend. A surprise dinner with candles is romantic
  • Buy small gifts spontaneously that show great thought in what they enjoy. But not too many otherwise it has the opposite effect
  • Remember that romance is often about giving of yourself, even if it is simply your precious time when you could have had other plans. Making your partner a priority is vital
  • Do things that make you both laugh. Laughter and romance go hand in hand
  • Remember that romance is in the small details and does not need to be expensive in any way. I'd rather receive a handmade card any day than an expensive gift
  • Anticipate your partner's wishes and desires to show them you are listening to them and that you care
  • Expect rightfully that romance is a two-way process though the romance you provide is simply giving of yourself

Top 10 Dating Tips

I thought I would bring you the top 10 dating tips I have gathered along the way in the hope of assisting and enlightening those who need assistance. If you are new to the dating scene, a regular or just simply someone trying to meet someone new there should always be time for top dating tips, advice, information and things to consider. None of us are dating experts otherwise we would have a magic formula to present to others. And no, looks are not the magic formula otherwise all supermodels would be blissfully happy - which they are not my friend. Good looking people the world over struggle when it comes to affairs of the heart. Think of all the major figures in history who have fallen in matters of romance.

The truth is, there are no magic formulas, no perfect tricks of the trade, no cunning ways of trapping Mr. or Miss Right and no top dating tips that wave a magic wand. But there are some essential facts that you should always bear in mind along the way. Dating tips are just that - tips, they are not promises written in stone and different things will always work differently for different people. However, I have noticed that there are some threads of advice that keep cropping up and therefore it is worth reiterating my top 10 tips here.

My Top 10 Dating Tips

*Get prepared for dating. If you really want to succeed in the dating game, decide who you are looking for, do your research and be ready to commit to dating. Half heartedness won't work. Also prepare for some let downs along the way but don't take dating too seriously either.
*Get your act together. Begin a regime of looking your best. Join a gym, read health magazines, get fit and start a diet. Get your hair cut or styled and begin a new regime of good grooming or beauty treatment. Though it will not find you a date in itself, you will feel a million times more confident about yourself.
*Go shopping and treat yourself to new clothes and even a whole new look. Get your image right, one that you can manage and live with, but one that flatters you. Don't go overboard and look like someone you are not but maybe its time to throw out those tired jeans, old sweaters or cardigans and spruce yourself up. People appreciate appearance.
*Have a good think about what your dating goals are and timescales. Do you see yourself married within 2 years? If you do then approach dating accordingly. If you are more laid back and don't take dating too seriously then ask yourself some honest questions about why you are dating and what you hope to achieve. If it is purely sex then ask yourself if you are about to be honest with those you hope to date.
*Sort out your confidence levels in advance. By following the first four tips you will feel better and be more focused. Do all the things that will boost your confidence from avoiding negative friends (often the married ones) to attending the right kind of social functions. Couples at dinner parties in suburbia is not necessarily where you need to be right now.
*Choose those you have a good chance of dating, don't aim low but do aim realistically. In other words, your dating is based on the whole package you present as well as just your personality. If you are looking for a glamour girl or boy and want to date someone trendy and gorgeous then good for you, but be prepared and be realistic about your chances.
*Work out in advance where in your neighborhood you are likely to meet people and join clubs, societies, sports events, drama groups, anything where you are likely to meet potential partners. The kind of partners you are looking for. I know its a cliché but you will not meet people by staying indoors.
*Take time off from dating occasionally if its not going well or causing dating fatigue. Dating is an ongoing process and so recharging the batteries and keeping the confidence and optimism levels high is an absolute must. So date in phases if necessary.
*Enjoy dating for what it is, dating. It is meeting people and socializing and spending time in the company of stimulating individuals who may or may not bring you a sparkle. The fact is, most people are interesting and whilst you may not be out there looking for new friends, you may well find one or two fabulous people along the way.
*Never ever make yourself too available. People like mystery and enigma and the thrill of the chase when dating. In keeping with this do not sleep with your dates early on if you want them to progress, so keep sex until later. The longer a person is made to chase and fall for you within reason, the more likely that love may blossom. Peak too early and you have little left to offer and emotions may never have had the time to develop.

Tips to Stay Slim!

1. Start your day with oats. The oats fill up your stomach and make you less inclined to snack until lunchtime.
2. Don’t skip breakfast because it won’t help you lose weight as many people think so. If you skip breakfast, you’re likely to over-eat for the rest of the day.
3. Take pauses between courses. Wait 20 minutes before opting for a dessert because your brain needs time to register that your stomach is full.
4. Keep a low-calorie bowl of soup with a sandwich during lunchtime. It makes you less likely to snack in the afternoon.
5. Caffeine makes you feel hungry and overeat. So, cut the amounts of tea, coffee and cola.
6. Take wholegrains like pasta, rice and wholegrain bread. They make you look thin and slim.
7. Take semi-skimmed milk instead of full-fat milk, because it contains half the fat full-fat milk has.
8. Take water instead of fizzy drinks. Swapping one glass of orange juice a day for water allows you lose almost a stone a year.
9. Use some herbs or garlic instead of butter or oil to make a meal tastier.
10. When you eat, sit up straight and don’t slouch because slouching makes you not feel full as quickly as sitting up straight does.

Everyone has tried and failed at dieting at one time or another. There is really no need to fail when it comes to weight loss. Success can be as simple as 1-2-3. Follow these tips and you will be on your way to a great body, sooner than you think.

The key to successful weight loss is not to feel deprived. When you feel deprived you will tend to cheat, slowly at first, but as time goes on your cheating will be more regular. Soon, the cheating will become the norm. To break this habit the first thing is approach losing weight from a different perspective.

Tip # 1. You must make small painless changes. When first starting a weight loss plan it is important not to go overboard. Make a list of all the things that you know you should be eating less of. Each week pick two that you will eliminate from your diet. This allows you to adjust to the new regimen, both physically and mentally.

Tip # 2. Watch what you drink. Most people do not realize how many calories they drink each day. When you take in your calories in liquids you do not force the body to process anything. When you eat there is a process for your body to break down the food. This process actually burns calories. Think of it this way almost all of the calories your drink goes straight to being stored as fat.

Tip # 3. Move more. This doesn't have to be in the form of exercise. It is a fact that a great majority of those who join fitness clubs will not be attending after 1 year. Instead look to incorporate exercise into your daily activities.

Cutting back on your calories does not have to be a difficult task. There is help in the form of all natural supplements. An excellent choice would be Hoodia Gordonii. Hoodia is a natural appetite suppressant. Hoodia will help you cut 500-1,000 calories per day without the hassle of a diet.

Weight loss tips to get slim without dieting

Weight loss: tips to get slim without dieting
Source: ChilliBreeze

First you’re on a horribly strict diet. Then you binge. Then you slog… slog desperately to get back on the austere diet. If this sounds familiar, you’ve got the wrong end of the stick on staying slim, and healthy. Looking for some pointers? Here’s how to go about it.

Sedentary lifestyles, erratic eating habits, an irresistible fast-food culture – things that slow us down in this figure obsessed world. How can one stay in shape without opting for crazy routines of diet and exercise? Five simple practices can help you get fit for life without depriving yourself or falling into the fest-famine cycle.

Drink water, lots of it
When you’re dehydrated, your body retains water, increasing bloating. Drinking water helps control the appetite – ‘fake hunger’ cravings pass easier if you drink a glass or two of water. Water is also an excellent substitute for the caffeinated, over-sweetened drinks we’re so used to reaching for. Finally, it stimulates the kidneys to eliminate toxins, making your body healthier, and your skin radiant.

Eat wholegrain foods
Brown rice, whole wheat, and other minimally processed grains contain a great deal of fiber, which is essential for good health and for promoting satiety without the need for pigging out. Whole fruits and vegetables, skin on and cooked only as much as needed to up the flavor, are much more fulfilling than white flour and sugar, or salt-laden processed snacks. You simply need less of these usually tastier, infinitely healthier foods to feel fuller.

Eat breakfast
Your metabolism slows down at night when you sleep. A solid breakfast containing protein, carbohydrates and a little fat helps kick start it in the morning. Without that, you’re sitting around without expending a third of the calories eating breakfast spurs you to. But be careful of a couple of things – if you eat cereal, find the least sugary one possible. Eat fresh fruit, rather than drinking juice, because you want the fiber, too, in addition to the vitamins (and regrettable sugar).

Eat many small, regular meals
Instead of weighing yourself down with two or three enormous meals daily, eat small snack-like (but healthy!) meals throughout. It keeps your metabolism at a constant trot, and helps avoid those surges and crashes in blood sugar levels – caused in part by over-large meals – which prompt your body to hang on to its extra fat.

Walk
Just walk fast enough to break a sweat for 20-30 minutes a day. That’s all you need.

These are lifestyle changes, not diet recommendations. So you may be dropping weight and looking better more incrementally than you like, but these positive changes will stick with you for life.
